The idea of building the Binowo Park Golf Courses came from the Swedish entrepreneur, Mr. Sven-Olov Brax.
Braxinvest in Gothenburg is the owner of Binowo Park Ltd. Mr. Sven-Olov Brax has been in the shipping business with Poland since the mid 1970`s.
In 1990 he invested in a Polish farm producing grain, corn and potatoes. The farm covers more than 1500 hectares of privately owned land. In 1997, 87 hectares of this land was converted in to a golf course, which we now know as the Binowo Park Golf Courses.
The first part of the Binowo Park golf project opened in the summer of 1999 with a charming 9-hole course (1380 m par 29) with par 3 and par 4 holes plus an illuminated driving range.
During the autumn of 1999, the main championship 18-hole course was seeded and was in operation from July 2000. The design of the main golf course is based on the fantastic landscape in Binowo, with natural water hazards on many of the holes. The 18-hole course is an open park course built to be exciting for low handicappers and a challenge for the less skilled golfer. The total length is more than 6000 meters from the back tees par 72.
The 18-hole course was officially opened on 3rd September 2000. Guests of honour were H.R.H. Princess Birgitta of Sweden and Mr. Sven Tumba, the Swedish Golf Legend. His WORLD GOLFERS CHAMPIONSHIP is the largest golf competition in the world for amateur golfers and BinowoPark is arranging the Polish competition and final participation of seven Polish golfers. |
